This Western Cartridge Company manufactured yellow, blue and red cardboard box contains all 50 rounds of Super-X long range extra clean wax coated 22 Short ammunition with brass cases and copper washed bullets and is in very good to near excellent condition with light shelf wear, light ink smudging, a few 1/4" or shorter splits in the edges, and the possibility of a wrinkled corner and wear on the end flap edges. The product code "SX22S" is printed on the front panel. "TRADE-MARK" is printed in white ink underneath "Western" on the top of the box. The bottom of the box displays "Made in U. S. A." on the left and the ownership lines "WESTERN CARTRIDGE COMPANY, East Alton, Ill.,U.S.A. / Division of OLIN INDUSTRIES, INC.". The end flap warning reads "RANGE / 1 MILE / BE CAREFUL". The brass casings display the "SU-1" headstamp and may have a few spots of tarnish present. The lubrication on the bullets has hardened and accumulated at the tips.  (file photos)

Date of Manufacture: This style box was produced circa 1953.

Note: This box is similar to the Huegel # WCC-10A S-1(b) variation. The differences observed are that this box displays blue printing as opposed to black, "TRADE-MARK" contains a hyphen, the product code "SX22S" is printed on the front panel, the end flap warning is laid out differently, and the bottom of the box does not match Huegel's sample photo. The differences observed on the box bottom are "Made in U. S. A." is printed on the left half of the box in a different font than Huegel's and the other printing appears to be of a different font size. This box does NOT display patent numbers on the bottom of the box.
